This essay seeks to evaluate and critically analyse the reasons for the failed widespread growth of regional shopping centres in the UK. It is shown that despite the apparent suitability of Britain for such centres, the amount of development which has taken place is minor in relation to the US experience (Guy, 1994). This essay will be structured as follows; firstly, definitions and concepts surrounding regional shopping centres are explored.
