We would imagine that this process is simple; however we know this not to be the case. Just as everyday communication occurs, so does miscommunication. This inefficient form of communication can occur when a message is not fully understood or comprehended. The message may also be interpreted incorrectly leading to an act or thought being processed improperly. This leads to the definition of communication actually having a fourth process, this is feedback. Having feedback will show that the communication process has been effective and not inefficient.
