However, within the formal group we were put in, informal sub-groups developed with their own 'sub-aims' and tasks. An example of this is that another group member, Henning, and I were to research the economic considerations and separate to this, Adam and I worked together to create the actual slides for the presentation. Therefore, all members of the group were directly linked to one another in a matrix structure, some more strongly so than others. There was no obvious traditional, triangular hierarchy partly because the group was so small but also because we were all aware that no one had any given authority over anyone else in the group and that we had to work together in a team.
