However, there are several differences between classical and operant conditioning. This essay will focus on the main differences between classical and operant conditioning and also give some examples in operating those theories in managing people at workplace. The basic difference between operant conditioning and classical conditioning is that, in operant conditioning, learners must make some response before their behaviour is reinforced or rewarded and classical conditioning is an association of one event with another that results in a pattern of behaviour.
