Alcohol misuse is not new amongst teenagers but underage drinking has become an increasingly challenging issue. This is being addressed through the Northern Ireland strategy for reducing alcohol related harm (dhss2000). They aim to encourage the responsible use of alcohol through health promotion and education programmes, which will have particular emphasis for those groups identified as being most 'at risk'.
