Where the individual that did not succeed now can fall out of the race, he could also stay in. Instead of degrading himself, he could instead gain a respect for the individual that won. He could learn from that individual and move on to the next race full of energy. One failure could cause, instead of depression, give enough zeal to accomplish his goals and be that winner which had once overcome him. As students are pitted against each other, they begin to think of ideas to overcome their worthy opponents. Ideas, full of originality, are suddenly introduced.
