... Japan's victories in 1941-1942 gave it access to raw materials, such as oil, rubber and rice, they could not be efficiently used due to Japan's lack of control of the sea and airlines to Japan. American submarines sank massive amounts of merchant shipping. By 1944, the industrial output of military supplies was severely limited due to US bombing raids and naval embargoes. Capture resources just could not reach Japan for production. By 1945 the domestic and national economies had become cripples. In contrast, the American economy remained virtually undamaged during the war. The US mainland was never attacked or even seriously threatened. The US economic industry then began to soar in production levels, and begun to supply and support the needs of the American military efficiently and effectively.
