Giles Constable (see ref: 7) claims that the Wend, Spanish and Eastern crusade were part of the papacyÆs attempt to solve the æMuslim QuestionÆ once and for all, and so all three crusades made up the Second Crusade. This appears to be looking at the crusade with hindsight. All three crusades were separate that evolved because of circumstances indoctrinated by something else.
