Britain was the only country at the time that had all these accurate combinations of factors that was necessary as a basis for an Industrial Revolution to take place. The cotton industry was the main industry in Britain which was most successful and created the most capital for the country within industries. Textile is known to be the most significant industry at this time. The industry had government backing, which also added to the reason why Britain is where the Industrial Revolution began. In 1740, English people tended to wear woollen garments, but as these were often itchy and uncomfortable, cotton replaced these and the 'Cotton Gin' was invented.
