The blood libel was a false accusation against Jews in the early Christian church, based on a misunderstanding of the ritual commonly known as Eucharist, which derived from the original Jewish Passover. Thus, people thought the Jews actually consumed human flesh and blood. In addition, Jews were labelled Christ killers, an accusation that nazi Germany also made.
