However, he is not a teacher to them because he does not directly teach about God or how to find Him. This is evident when Jesus renounces the title of "teacher" and reprimands Thomas (Line 13) for calling him such. In Thomas, Jesus sayings are meant to guide followers to discover what it means to find God. Jesus sayings emphasize that to reach an understanding of God one must go on a self-seeking journey alone.
