However, an originally religious and conservative priest had a very deep interest in mathematics and astronomy and that was Nicolaus Copernicus. Copernicus doubted that the theory of Ptolemy was too complicated to explain the God's will of creating a harmonious universe and therefore, he presumed that the sun is the center if the universe they knew at that time. He thought that he could analyze the irregular changes of heavenly bodies but he could not prove his theory that the Earth goes around the sun. Likewise, he could not explain the course that how the heavenly bodies worked because he believed that the orbit must be circular. After about fifty years later, another astronomer, Johannes Kepler, finally proved that the sun is the center and announced his laws of planetary motion ...
