... William Power and John Walker (who later became known as the Birmingham six) are an example of one of our countries most gross miscarriages of justice. The six men were arrested after the police had been keeping watch on ports immediately after the bombings. They told the police that they were travelling to northern Ireland to see relatives, this was only partly true as they had been on their way to attend the funeral of James Mcdade; an IRA man. Though none of the six were IRA members and they hadn't known that James Mcdade was an IRA member until after he was killed, they new his family and had intended to go to the funeral. When questioned by police the six men didn't mention the exact purpose of their visit to Ireland, so when their luggage was searched and the police found evidence of the real reason for their trip ...
