Also in 1957, blacks were permitted to attend Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Although the nine black students who actually enrolled needed federal troops to escort them to school, they at least had a sign of the beginning of a breakthrough. Ernest Green was the first black to graduate from the integrated Little Rock High School. In 1960, another Civil Rights Act was formed. This act asked for federal officials to protect blacks in their efforts to vote. In Greensboro, North Carolina in 1960, a sit-in emerged.
