... reform carried out by the Commission since its inception in 1965. The Land Registration Act 2002 was the outcome of more than six years' work by the Law Commission and HM Land Registry. The Act replaces all the existing legislation on land registration. The reason why it will not come into force until October 203, is because a new set of Land Registration Rules has to be in place as well. The new law is strikingly different from the old. It is not a mere moderate recasting of the LRA 1925, but a fundamental reappraisal of how land registration should operate. Little of the content of the 1925 Act has survived unchanged.
