... also? What, if any, limits should be put to this amendment? As long as the government has existed, people have battled over censorship. Freedom of speech is an issue one deals with everyday. One has to deal with the issue at work, school, and in public places. There are certain words and or phrases that one may say around family and friends, that they would not say just to anyone. Take for instance an African American male, he may call his friends "nigger", but he would not call a stranger that unless he was looking for a fight. In the same situation take a white male he would not use the word in any way towards an African American male. If the white male were to use the word it would be considered a hate crime.
