This has been due to public demand for a more democratic state representative of its own needs and situation. Today as the Monarchy stands in 2002, its functions has indeed changed from the time of the Normans. Its' had to adapt to the changing public opinion and indeed the needs and wants of the public which it claims to represent. This Monarchy cannot be obtained as a political right; it is a right that you inherit and indeed is a focal point for objection to the Monarchy.
