This paper will discuss the significant contributions of Jane Addams, a pioneer sociologist who broke through the mold of this male oriented school of thought. Her ideas will later be assessed to critique Durkheim's ideal of women and the division of labor within the cultural feminists' point of view. Jane Addams not only made an important impact on feminism, but she also greatly influenced the thoughts and ideas of many men of the Chicago School. Her friendships and collaborations with sociologists like W.I. Thomas and G. H. Mead have also changed the face of sociology by bringing a feminist touch to these important contemporary theories.
