... of the film, 'Stand By Me'. It is centred and looks like real handwriting, making it simple and easy to read. I think simplicity was the key for this title as that's what it is. The setting for the first scene was very appropriate, as they wanted to convey the atmosphere as melancholy and placid. It is set in a vast field, with long, overgrown brownish grass giving the idea that it is late summer, or early autumn. The scene starts as a long-distance medium shot showing a jeep on a road in the middle of the fields. The jeep is in the middle telling us that this is what we are focusing on. The camera slowly zooms in on the jeep until we are right at the window. We see a man sitting there and then zooms into a newspaper headline, 'The Oregonian' dated 4th September 1985.
