... educated and hard working. Robert DeNiro has been type casted in so many gangster films that it is difficult seeing him in other more serious movies that he is not beating someone up. It's a shame because I just watched a film last week called "City By The Sea," and Robert DeNiro played a more serious role. He is an excellent actor but it's difficult for him to get these parts because the media loves seeing him as a gangster. I always wondered if actors like Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci feel like they are going against their culture by degrading their ethnic backgrounds as uneducated mobsters. My father refuses to watch The Sopranos because he feels that the show is insulting his culture which I can understand. Italian Americans have worked so hard to get where they are today.
