INTRODUCTION The Internet Protocol (IP) forms the basis of the Internet, and allows users to communicate over diverse networks. IPv6 is a protocol developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to enhance the Internet architecture and to replace IPv4, the current version of IP, which was designed more than 20 years ago. IPv6 is designed to improve upon IPv4's scalability, ease-of-configuration, and network management all which are pertinent to the success of any network dependant business. Through the use of such tools as NAT (Network Address Translation), PIP and TUBA, IPv4 can be modified to meet some of these shortfalls however they do not adequately meet rising needs of the Internet.
